Basing yourself in Hout Bay, means you have access to some of Cape Town’s world class MTB trails. The Constantia Nek/Newlands trail will take you high above the urban sprawl into lush and secret forests. The trail is a mix between forest roads and single track. In the summertime the tree canopy offers cool respite from the heat. Water from mountain streams is available all year round. The Vlakkenberg MTB Trail is Hout Bay’s very own trail. Built by the community this piece of riding winds its way through Blue Gums, high up on the Vlakkenberg slopes. Being quite technical, it is great to include in a longer ride, where you want to mix up easy riding with this short loop of more testing terrain. The Missing Link, was specifically built to allow mountain bikers to ride along the Twelve Apostles from Hout Bay to Camps Bay. This magnificent single track offers riders majestic views of the Atlantic, Lions head and Camps Bay. If you like you can link all these trails together to ride all the way around Table Mountain, one of the world’s seven natural wonders.
