At 1.5 hours from Cape Town, this well-hidden gem called Kleinkloof Farm is looks out onto the Piketberg Mountain range with breathtaking views across the ‘Rooi Karoo” towards the Winterhoek mountains – a tranquil and peaceful country retreat on a working olive farm. A cluster of old labourer’s cottages have been transformed into separate self-catering houses. Each house is decorated in a luxurious yet under- stated style, allowing for country getaways in a comfortable relaxing environment. Each cottage has its own garden and pool. There is pet and kid friendly accommodation available for up to 24 people. Here you can enjoy long warm lazy summers lounging around the pool or curled up in front of the fireplace during winter.
Nestled in the shadow of the beautiful Piketberg mountains lies the Kleinkloof MTB trail. The trail is a mix of riding: flowing firstly between the vineyards before climbing up onto the lower slopes of the mountain. The single track alone is 10km. The highlight is a small kloof at the highest point of the trail, which offers fresh water, shade and an amazing view of the valley below. From that point you will fly down the mountain along a network of flowing switchbacks. The farm roads in the area allow for hours of safe riding. There is talk of linking the trails with the Piketberg trails on top of the mountain.
